Freedom of Choice

By: Rene Pena

If you have ever wondered how a man lives his life, I will give you a short glimpse into mine.  If you have ever wondered how a man determines his success, I will show you a resume of my own and you can do me the favor of determining how successful you believe me to be.  If you ever wondered how a man builds his fame, I will gladly give you a long list of my personal and professional references and you can let me know how famous you think I am.  My father always said, “It is not what drives a man to succeed in life that defines him, but his failures and abilities to continue on his journey that molds him into the man he is destined to be.”  I live a life with no regrets, minimal regards, and many obstacles; none of them, which have enabled me to become who I am today.

If you’re looking for a man with a story worth telling, I would like to think you found him.  I am a man who lives a lifestyle of purpose, through a process of right and wrong, and with the faith of one day receiving the ultimate payoff.  I strive and feed off of the love that most people spend a lifetime trying to find.  I find that most often than none, most people forget about traditions and cultures and live in there own imaginary world of painless decisions.  I am a man with high morals and strong values, which guide me through a path of righteousness, and on the other had, I am not one who believes that culture determines who I am at the end of the day or what my future holds.

I am not a man that thinks and acts like everyone else around him.  I am a man who looks within and allows his conscience and commitment to a purpose decide who he will become.  I am the only person in my life that determines how high the glass ceiling is. There is nothing out there that can control what is within me; it is simply the other way around. Everything around me I consider to be a stage so that I may act out my own miracles.  Welcome to MY SHOW!

Welcome to Metro Gentlemen!

Satisfaction

Are we satisfied with the way we live our lives? I look at my own and I would like to do much more than I am now. I am greatful for traveling and meeting fascinating people. Is that enough? I sometimes question many of the things I observe in our society. Despite not having any goals or dreams, some people are satisfied with having very little money  and many friends. Is happiness the key to our satisfaction? Why are some people happy and others are miserable? I believe it is related to our thoughts. We need to look at what life has to offer and appreciate the good things in our lives.

Happiness is a state of mind. You can have a nice dinner with your family during the holidays while looking into the eyes of your loved ones as they open their presents with a vivid smiles, but does that make you happy? If you can make someone smile, why don’t you? It doesn’t cost a dime. Honest and sincere appreciation goes a long way and can even help those around you feel more postive about their lives. Shit happens, of course, but it is it is how with deal with that makes you a stronger person.

Am I happy? Well sometimes I am, but certainly not all the time. Most people would dream to do the things I have done in such a young age, but the truth is that it would be nice to share my life with someone. But many people I speak to have a partner and yet they take advantage of them.  They end up looking for someone else and eventually get tired of each other. Is that a satisfying life? Jumping from one person to the next? I may be conservative in my views on love, but where are the days where love was expressed through dinner and a movie or a nice walk or a romantic evening out on the town? Britney Spears gets married and a few hours later is divorced. Is that love? Being satisfied with yourself is important and before you come across someone you love, you must be happy and satisfied with yourself.
